Yes! I'm ready to learn how my new smile is just a few aligners - and months - away!

What is Invisalign and who is it for? More importantly, is it for me?

It straightens your teeth like braces, but with clear, removable aligner trays that you wear 20–22 hours per day. And it probably is for you! Invisalign can improve most alignment and bite issues for adults and teens.

Which best describes your smile?

Who will notice?

Very few people will even notice that you’re wearing anything on your teeth at all. See this article about dating with Invisalign for more on the nuances. Invisalign aligners really are quite stealthy.
Ready to start your journey?

How long?

Most courses of Invisalign treatment are 12–18 months, so you know, slightly less than a train ride to Far Rockaway. You and your Sky Dental doctor will develop a plan together, which should give you a very good idea of how long your Invisalign treatment will be.

How inconvenient is this going to be?

As long-term dental procedures go, Invisalign will be minimally disruptive to your life. First things first: Sky Dental is conveniently nestled in the heart of the Financial District in lower Manhattan, a quick train or ferry ride from Brooklyn or Jersey City.

We know, you’ve been working from home for 4+ years. You’re not trying to put on pants and go to your dentist once a week. It’s not that bad: Every six to eight weeks, you’ll stop in and visit with us to check on your progress. And! We’ll be cultivating one of Sky’s world-famous doctor-patient relationships together, so you’ll love it. Maybe you’ll even get to feature in an Instagram reel, if fame is your thing.

Perhaps the biggest p-in-the-a of Invisalign is taking the aligner trays out to eat and drink. It’s an extra step, but users get accustomed to that within a few weeks–it becomes autopilot. You’ll also need to stay on top of brushing and flossing, but you’ve been meaning to get better about that anyway, right?

What is Invisalign not?

That’s a weird question, but we think it’s worth asking. Invisalign is not braces, brackets, or wires. There is no metal. No eating restrictions or tightening of clamps; no BPA, PBS, or latex. Just a strong, orthodontic-grade material that helps you get your dream smile.

What is the deal with mail-order aligners?

So, no big surprise…we’re not fans. The main issue is you’re going DIY and aren’t likely to save any money for the extra work. They seem cheaper, but there’s a lot that isn’t included, which you’ll need to acquire and pay for separately, such as x-rays. Additionally, dental insurance doesn’t cover the mail-order services. And finally, Invisalign is the only clear aligner system using the patented SmartTrack™ material, invented specifically for fast, effective orthodontic use.

Just how much is this going to cost me?

Naturally, your treatment plan is going to dictate cost, but it’s similar to braces. Book a consultation with Gold Plus Invisalign providers at Sky Dental to find out! Most dental insurance plans cover Invisalign with the same parameters as braces. Invisalign is also FSA and HSA eligible, allowing you to protect your teeth money from the tax man. (Can you think of anything worse—paying taxes and then paying for dental work, out of the same money? Ew.) CareCredit, a healthcare credit card, may also be an option for you.

Why Sky Dental?

We are Invisalign Gold Plus providers, and that’s kind of a big deal. But from a human perspective—because we bet you’re human—we are your clear choice if you want to feel cared for and collaborated with. We have tons and tons of experience with Invisalign, but that doctor-patient relationship is what makes us stand out from the multitudes. Likewise, we’re looking for patients who want to bring their whole selves to the process and want a dentist who cares about their specific case, their smile, and their overall health. Is that you?

But, like, why?

Why give your hard-earned resources (time and money) to do this? What is so bad about crooked teeth? Who. cares. This just depends on your genetics, hygiene history, and luck. For some of us, crooked or crowded teeth can really wreak havoc. Being harder to reach with toothbrushes, floss, knitting needles, and hay straws, the areas between the teeth can get funky and lead to decay and gum inflammation. Over time, whether treated or not, those issues can land us in bone graft and periodontal surgery territory. Getting those teeth in line is the healthy thing to do.
